Loose Park is a part of KC Parks & Rec, and there is a photo permit required for any photo shoot on grounds. KC Parks & Rec advises to submit your photo permit request and payment 3-5 business days prior to your session.

At the time of this posting, there is currently no charge to schedule a photo session at the Nelson, however your photographer must check in with security before beginning your session. Be sure to call ahead to find out if there are any on site events before planning your family photo session at the Nelson; if there is an event on site, photos may be prohibited on the grounds during that time.

Located just outside of Kansas City, Shawnee Mission Park is a sprawling natural haven that showcases the region's natural beauty. 

This expansive park features picturesque lakes, rolling hills, and dense woodlands, providing a peaceful and serene setting for family photos. The park's trails, picnic areas, and open fields offer diverse options for capturing candid moments and genuine smiles. At the time of this posting, Shawnee Mission Park does not require a permit for personal photo use.

During the holidays, Union Station typically waives the permit fee between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, but it’s important to inquire to be sure you don’t need a permit at that time.
